Building a Diverse Workforce for Diverse Communities
Diversifying the teacher workforce is one of the strongest levers for educational equity. Projects that focus on recruiting, preparing, and retaining diverse teachers don’t just fix a representation gap; they help create classrooms representative of communities and emphasize inclusivity in learning.
Understanding Impact
Basis’ evaluation of the project assessed whether or not the grant was achieving its five main objectives:
- improving the equity centered educator pipeline
- building capacity and expertise throughout the pipeline
- providing opportunities for career advancement throughout all stages of educators' career
- increasing the number of teacher qualified to lead advanced courses
- developing systems to promote sustainability beyond the grant cycle
