Social and Emotional Learning in Kent County
Basis partners with Kent Intermediate School District (Kent ISD) to measure, evaluate, and brainstorm ways to prioritize students’ well-being and social and emotional learning.
Why Social and Emotional Learning is Important
When comfort and belonging come first, stronger academic outcomes follow. Social and emotional learning is the foundation of effective education. Students thrive when they feel safe, valued, and connected. By building skills like self-awareness, empathy, and collaboration, we can create classrooms where students are ready to succeed.
At Basis, our job is to meet students where they’re at in the classroom and understand what makes them feel safe, and what hinders their learning.
Measuring Belonging
Before being able to strategize solutions, Basis created a comprehensive assessment of the program.
