North Carolina’s education and workforce data are incredibly rich, but answering even basic questions can take weeks of custom data pulls and one-off documentation. This project streamlines that work by building a research-ready dataset that helps agencies, researchers, and other stakeholders get to high-quality answers faster and with more consistency.
Making Data Work
Basis designed, tested, and evaluated a system for data that works for researchers. To ensure data is easily accessible, Basis
- developed a clear, formal documentation that explains the dataset's structure, content, and key definitions.
- interviewed target users to understand their questions, constraints, and technical needs.
- tested and validated the dataset against regulations, then finalizing it and its documentation for broad use.
