Why our Work Matters
Opportunity Scholarships give the rare but significant chance to distribute opportunity in a way that is more equitable: giving equal opportunity for all students to attend elite institutions.
By designing and administering extensive, evidence-backed testing, Basis is able to emphasize the “opportunity” in the OS. From there, our interpretation, compilation, and understanding of evidence is essential in continuing to give every student the chance to succeed.

With our partners, Basis is working to evaluate, strategize, and scale a potentially transformative initiative by
- examining impacts on student achievement and attendance during and after the apprenticeship year.
- tracking teacher retention across experience levels over time.
- gathering real-time feedback from participants to understand how the model is experienced on the ground.
